Invisalign® Treatments

Taglia Dentistry, in Elmwood Park, believes that having straight teeth contributes to an overall healthy mouth. Gaps in teeth, bite issues, and crowded teeth don't allow the gums to properly support the teeth. Problems with distorted speech, unbalanced chewing, uneven bite, and worn enamel are all symptoms of teeth that are not straight. Fortunately, we are an experienced Invisalign® Preferred Provider and offer the treatment of straightening teeth without the use of braces. At best, braces are uncomfortable, inconvenient, irritating, sometimes painful, and aesthetically unpleasing. They require regular visits to manipulate the wires, food gets stuck in them, and extra time is required to care for them. Why go through all that when Invisalign® retainers offers the same results in about the same amount of time without all of the inconvenience?

How Invisalign® Retainers Works:

Invisalign® retainers are clear, virtually invisible, BPA-free plastic trays that fit over your upper and lower teeth. Once a custom treatment plan has been created, you will receive your retainers. Every two weeks you will switch to a new retainer as you move from one phase to the next. This allows the teeth to gradually move into position. Only take out the retainer when you eat and to clean it. It is comfortable enough to be worn during the day, at work, while playing sports, and sleeping.

Watch An Invisalign® VS Traditional Braces Review:

Invisalign® Aligners VS Metal Braces Overview:

  • Invisalign® is clear and virtually invisible. Braces requires brackets and wires.
  • Invisalign® is a smooth comfortable plastic aligner. Braces are wired and can poke & irritate mouth.
  • Invisalign® aligners are removable for easy cleaning. Braces require more effort for brushing and flossing.
  • With Invisalign® you can eat whatever you want. With Braces there are many food restrictions.

The Invisalign® Treatment Process:

The Invisalign® treatment process always begins with a consultation. We take the time to discuss all of the details with you and determine if you are a good candidate for Invisalign®. You, in turn, can tell us about the kind of results you would like to achieve, ask questions, and voice any concerns about the process. Topics such as cost and insurance coverage are discussed as well.

During the same visit we may take x-rays, digital pictures, and impressions of your teeth which will be used to create a digital 3-D image. We'll use this image to create an exact plan for the movement of your teeth and the length of time it will take. You will able to see a digital representation of how your teeth will move at each stage of the treatment. The Invisalign® retainers are then created from this 3-D image.

For optimum results it is important to wear your Invisalign® as much as possible, ideally 20 - 22 hours a day. Because the aligner is made from a smooth plastic, it won't irritate the inside of your mouth like braces would. It can be easily removed when you want to eat, and to brush and floss your teeth. Your dentist will want to see you about every 6 weeks or so to monitor the progress of your treatment.

Treatable Cases Utilizing Invisalign® Clear Braces:

  • Teeth with Large Gaps Between Them
  • Overbite
  • Underbite
  • Open Bite
  • Cross Bite
  • Crowded Teeth

Caring For Invisalign® Retainers:

One big drawback about braces is the care required to keep them clean. Food gets stuck in them and extra time is required to brush and floss around the braces and wires. Since you can remove your Invisalign® aligner you won't have to worry about food getting stuck in it. Caring for your Invisalign® aligner is as easy as brushing and rinsing it in lukewarm water. Or you may choose to use the Invisalign® cleaning kit for regular maintenance.

Once your treatment has ended you can enjoy the healthy smile that you've always wanted. Simply continue your regular oral hygiene routine and visit your dentist regularly to ensure that smile lasts.
